Two employees of the Sharjah Municipality and a labourer of the Nazo Ceramic company were reportedly injured. They were rushed to Al Qasimi Hospital. The damage to the properties is yet to be ascertained.
Officers from the Sharjah Civil Defence and police units rushed to the site following a call received by the Sharjah Police Operations Room at 12.30 pm and started evacuating the area. It took over two hours to douse the flames. The operation was supervised by Brigadier Nassir Al Fardan, Deputy General Director of Sharjah Police, and Colonel Garaib Shaban, Director of the Sharjah Civil Defence.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, Col Shaban said that the civil defence units faced difficulties dousing the flames at the Nazo warehouse because of the woods stacked outside it. This prevented the firefighters from entering the warehouse and containing the spread of the fire.
