Chronicling life and times of Shaikh Zayed

DUBAI - Royal photographer Noor Ali Rashid, who has chronicled the life and times of UAE over the last 45 years, is hosting an exhibition of rare iconic images of the country to commemorate the 37th Accession Anniversary of the President, His Highness Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, as Ruler of Abu Dhabi.

Mohammed Al Gergawi, Chairman, Dubai Development and Investment Authority, will inaugurate the exhibition at 11am at the Hyatt Regency in Dubai tomorrow.

Noor Ali Rashid, official photographer to the President, is internationally renowned for his work and has a remarkable collection of over one million photographs and negatives. His unique collection spans more than four decades, where he has been called upon to take pictures of state ceremonies, formal and informal portraits of the Rulers and their families.

"The exhibition is a tribute to His Highness Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan on his Accession Anniversary and features rare photographs, some of which never shown before. It was not easy; there are thousands of photographs to choose from. Though my pictures I want to show the new generation how the leaders of UAE worked to build the nation we see today," Said Noor Ali Rashid

His many accomplishments include being among the first photo journalist to be officially recognised by then British Political Agency, presenting the most up-to-date news and photographic coverage across the Emirates.

Noor Ali is the author of five best sellers. He was also the Chief Editor of the Arabian Gulf Times Magazine and a regular correspondent to several newspapers in the Gulf and the subcontinent.

Noor Ali was presented with the 1997 UAE Cultural and Scientific Association's Sultan Al Owais Literary Award for the first two titles in the Royal Collection series featuring Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
