Trriple is a recently launched UAE-based mobile wallet application that targets unbanked and under-banked consumers, those earning between Dh2,000 and Dh10,000. "Our vision is to build a global digital payment ecosystem for everyone, enabling anywhere, anytime payments in a trustworthy manner," says Paolo Gagliardi, CEO of Trriple, in an interview with Khaleej Times.
"At Trriple, we believe in financial inclusion: a future wherein anyone can access money anywhere. Money is powerful when it is in the hands of those who need it, when they need it.  Trriple makes this a possibility by introducing the best possible technologies, and focusing on People, Planet and Prosperity," he adds.
According to him, technology has played a role in every sector, especially in the UAE. "Following the vision of the leaders here, companies from all different industries are challenging themselves to be technologically advanced. In my opinion, the biggest boost for smart payment technology in the UAE is driven by the government. Whether you are paying for utility bills, traffic violations, or any other ministry-related services, it all includes smart payment as the preferred mode of payment. The government has selected technology to be the vehicle behind all of its transactions," notes the CEO.
Additionally, when it comes to smart payments, technology bridges the gap between services and its users, which is essentially boosting the use of digital payments both globally and in the region.
It is imperative that users should be aware of the latest smart payment options available in the market. "First and foremost, users should ensure they are selecting a secure smart payment solution provider. It is very critical that you are dealing with a reliable organisation that has taken solid cybersecurity measures to avoid any fraudulent payments and data breaches. Users should also ensure that their mobile phones are protected with a screen-lock mechanism. If users are saving their credit card details, they should ensure that their details are protected and in safe hands. Lastly, users should always switch on their transaction alert messages and keep an eye on it," Gagliardi advises.
Security is, first of all, a state of mind, and it starts from us. Today, technology offers multiple ways to secure peoples' data, but we need to be educated and educate everyone around us to apply those means to stay safe.
Gagliardi adds, "Then, of course, security is of utmost importance when it comes to smart payments. The biggest challenge a smart payment provider faces today is ensuring secure transactions for their customers, for which they heavily invest in cybersecurity to avoid fraudulent payments for themselves and their customers. In my opinion, no company today, especially if you are an SME, should operate without having the right cybersecurity technology in place. This is important not only to avoid financial consequences, but also to avoid data breaches as it can damage the brand's credibility and reputation."
