Chinese woman sentenced to a month in prison

RAS AL KHAIMAH — The Ras Al Khaimah Court on Wednesday sentenced a Chinese woman, who owns a beauty parlour, to a month in jail besides slapping a fine of Dh5,000 for indulging in medical malpractice.

Violating the provisions of the facility's trade license, the woman, who confessed to her crime, administered an Egyptian lady with anti-obesity injection causing skin allergy. A medical test revealed that the medication caused the victim serious health complications, which was noted by the court in its verdict. On receipt of the complaint a few months ago, a team from the Public Health Department raided the parlour and seized 19 medications of different kinds.
