Chinese medical centre in capital

ABU DHABI — The Beijing Medical Centre, offering both traditional Chinese medicine and advanced medical treatment, opened in the capital last week.

The centre was inaugurated by Chinese Ambassador Zhang Zhi Jun in the presence of Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamed Al Hamed, Japanese Ambassador Hajime Tsujimoto and other dignitaries.

Speaking to Khaleej Times, Shaikh Ahmed said that there was a growing interest among people in Chinese medicines and many people were opting for alternative medicines these days. "This centre is our contribution to the growth of traditional medicine in the UAE; and with support from the public and the authorities, we hope to extend our services to other parts of the emirates, and also conduct research on this medical sector," he said.

Dr Liyo Pan Mi, Chinese medicine expert and Director of the centre, said that it was the first of its kind centre in the UAE offering both traditional and advanced medical care under one roof.

The Beijing Medical Centre uses scanning technology in the treatment of back pain, Chinese herbal medicines for treating chronic diseases like blood pressure, diabetes etc. It also employs special fat melting technology to combat obesity, conducts special Chinese traditional exercise classes called 'Tachi' in addition to skin care treatment.
