Al Hamrani said the two-day event is aimed at promoting sustainable development in Ajman.
“The challenges in urban planning are many, but the most important of them is the rise of 'Vertical Urbanism'. The spatial dimensions of urban space are being transformed and the rise of 'sky-high' cities poses several challenges related to sustainable development, urban design, infrastructure, transportation, neighbourhood development and the quality of life.
"The AUPC 2007 will primarily focus on the exploration of our experiences in vertical imaginations and put forth new urban planning and development models to suit the requirements of the city's unique environment,” he said.
Mohammed bin Omair Al Muhairi, Head of Planning and Survey Department at the Municipality and Head of AUPC Committee, said it is the first event of its kind to be organised in Ajman.
The conference will examine the track of development in the emirate.
In addition to keynote speeches by experts and carefully planned discussions, this conference will provide the perfect platform to professionals from the Middle East and around the globe to interact, learn and develop lasting business relationships and explore new business opportunities.
