Briefing newsmen yesterday, Omer Kaddouri, General-Manager of Beach Rotana Hotel & Towers, said this was the third consecutive year the hotel was hosting the community event, to garner funds for a specific charitable institution or organisation. In its first year, the event generated Dh7,000 for The Future Centre, a special needs school in Abu Dhabi, and last year it raised Dh10,000 for the Indian Ladies Association's (ILA) Special Care Centre, a school for the mentally challenged and physically handicapped.

He noted that the event would centre around a specially constructed Fun Village, where a variety of activities will take place, including games and entertainment, face painting, sand painting, fishing games, a grand parade and a raffle.

"Now more than ever, organisations such as MSF rely on help from the public, and this event presents an ideal opportunity to make our contribution," Mr Kaddouri said, urging people to come along in large numbers, purchase the nominal ticket of Dh30 for entry to the event, and join in the festivities. Souvenir badges and the raffle ticket are also included with each ticket.
