Career Fair held at ZU

ABU DHABI — Dr Sulaiman Al Jassim, Vice-President of Zayed University, opened the one-day Third Career Information and Opportunities Fair in Abu Dhabi campus yesterday.

In his opening address, Dr Sulaiman thanked the participating companies reassuring the university's main priorities as it seeks for obtaining employment opportunities for its students and graduates; such diverse activities showcase the academic experiences, internship and skills of students and graduates inside and outside the classrooms.

"Career fairs are one of the main targets of Zayed University especially that they acknowledge the organisations with the excellent standards of both graduates and students have reached; it also gives them the chances to be trained and employed in prestigious public or private companies," he said. "The university has prepared a strategy for organising internal and external fairs, participating in exhibitions, and organising workshops and seminars with the participation of businessmen of different sectors; these are of course supported by Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, President of Zayed University," he added.

Dr Al Jassim indicated that the university also submits new initiatives to encourage students and graduates to join the private sector referring to the fact that around 70 per cent of the four graduating classes have been employed in prestigious organisations and the university is currently preparing for the graduation of the fifth class mid April.

"The career fair this year took different approach as it is associated with the career information activities to educate the university students and graduates on opportunities available in potential sectors where they can find successful career path and invest in their self and gain competent skills and knowledge. The employers delivered presentations on UAE's national career path in banking, insurance, trading, industry, and business sectors," Abdul Rahman Baqrain, Graduate Employment Coordinator in Abu Dhabi Campus, explained.

The event, which is sponsored by Emirates Bank and Adcom, witnessed the participation of 30 public and private companies.
