The cars were launched to keep a close watch on the image of the city and to ensure adherence to the city image rules. The objective of launching the ‘City Image Monitoring cars’, that patrol the streets 12 hours everyday, is to make Abu Dhabi a world-class city.

The cars keep tabs on the maintenance and cleanliness in front of buildings as well as shopping complexes.

“If anyone is found washing his/her car or repairing it on the road, they’ll be fined.

“Likewise, it’s also illegal to sell and buy cars at public places, or parking cars in public places for long period of time,” a CIMS official told Khaleej Times.

Sleeping in parks and gardens, spitting on roads and streets, and throwing cigarette butts at places other than the bins invite penalties. Littering is strictly prohibited.
