Hospitals brace for uptick in typhoid and bacterial infections; and mosquito- and fly-borne diseases like dengue
The Steering Committee of the conference will be headed by Lieutenant-General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister for Interior.
The UAE Association for Traffic Safety held a meeting yesterday, chaired by Mohammed Saleh bin Badwa Al Darmaki, Head of the Association's Board of Directors. The conference would be held from March 27 to March 29, 2006, under the theme "Traffic Safety Strategies: Think Internationally and Carry Out Locally."
Lauding the support extended by Lt-Gen. Shaikh Saif in making the conference a success, Darmaki said the fact that the event was being held in the UAE was proof of the country's position in hosting major events.
Lt-Gen. Saif was briefed about the meeting of the general assembly of the international association, which was held in Lisbon in June.
At the conference to be held at the Emirates Palace, special emphasis will be on traffic databases and statistics and their role in reducing traffic accidents and fatalities. The conference will also deal with educational strategies and traffic awareness among youngsters, and measures to inculcate the principles of safety in the minds of motorists.
