Capital will have institute for applied technology

ABU DHABI — The President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has, in his capacity as the Ruler of Abu Dhabi, issued an Amiri decree on the establishment of an institute for applied technology.

According to the decree, the institute shall be a corporate body and enjoy independent financial and administrative character with full legal competence to assume its activities. It shall have an autonomous budget to be allocated by the Abu Dhabi Executive Council. It can feed its budget from other resources including fixed and mobile assets, fees, grants and assistance.

The Abu Dhabi government-owned institute shall be based in Abu Dhabi and can set up branches and offices inside the emirate of Abu Dhabi upon a resolution from its board of trustees, which shall also draw and implement general policies. The institute shall set up technical, technological and training centres in different parts of the emirates to offer specialised programmes.
