This was announced on Sunday by Lieutenant-General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police .

He said cameras mounted on the police cars that cruise the city’s roads would be linked to the operation room of the Dubai Police. The mounted cameras would allow the command room to monitor police patrols through videos .

Dhahi Khalfan said these cameras would back-up police patrols round-the-clock, track traffic on Dubai roads and help the duty officer in the operation room to take the right decision at the right time.

‘‘This will help documentation of accidents so that the police can use it for training and avoid mistakes in future.’’

The duty officer would know when a police patrol has arrived at an accident scene and will be able to take a quick decision if police patrols needed any support.

Another 100 cameras will be installed later in the year.

‘‘We also plan to instal microphones on the patrol cars and will announce two new technologies within two weeks to enhance the technologies currently beingused in the Dubai Police operation room.’’

Colonel Omer Al Shamsi, Director of Command Room of the Dubai Police said the new video technology uses 3G technology--.
