DUBAI — The General Secretariat of the Federation of Arab Journalists (FAJ) has appealed to all associations of journalists and members of the FAJ to stand in support of the Egyptian journalists who have been detained by the Egyptian authorities.
The appeal was made by Salah Al Dein Hafiz, the general secretary of FAJ, in a letter that he has sent to various journalist bodies.
The letter mentions that the Egyptian media has been going through a very difficult time, with jail sentences slapped on a number of journalists, as well as the closure of some 22 newspapers in recent times.
“I urge you to respond swiftly and offer a helping hand to the Egyptian Journalists,” the letter says.
