Cabinet nod for Arabic Consultative Council

Following the directives of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the UAE Cabinet has approved the establishment of the ‘Arabic Language Consultative Council’.

The council embodies his vision and translating the federal government’s efforts to preserving the national identity through boosting the Arabic language by adopting creative methods.

According to the Cabinet Resolution No. (184/8/27) for the year 2012, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al Owais will be the chairman and Executive Director of Culture and Arts Bilal Rabee Al Bdour, Director of the Department for Curriculum and Instructional Materials Development at the UAE Ministry of Education Shaikha Khulood bint Saqr Al Qasimi, Director of The Center for Arabic Teaching at Zayed University Dr Obaid bin Butti Al Muhairi, Executive Director and Editor-in-Chief of Al Bayan newspaper Dhaen Shaheen, Arabic Instructor at the UAE University Dr Fatima Hamad Al Mazroui and writer Nasir Ali Khamis Al Dhahri will be the members.

The council is tasked with proposing and discussing projects related to preserving Arabic language, boosting initiatives aimed at implementing the recommendations of the ‘Arab Language Charter’ across the UAE, coordinating between government and private entities to implement the charter and submitting periodical reports to the UAE Prime Minister on the progress achieved.
