Cabinet approves guidelines for drug monitoring system

ABU DHABI — His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum,Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, presided over the cabinet meeting at the Presidential Palace yesterday. Shaikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, also attended the meeting.

The cabinet endorsed the guidelines on the country’s drug monitoring system which will ensure the safety of all pharmaceutical products in the UAE.

The cabinet also approved the byelaw regulating the private education in the country.

The budgets of a number of federal authorities and institutions for the current fiscal year were approved by the cabinet.

The cabinet also ratified the convention of organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) approved earlier in May in Senegal. It also endorsed a protocol on preferential tariff regulating trade among member countries of the OIC.

The cabinet decided to join the international convention on conventional weapons (CCW) and its protocols, which prohibits or restricts the use of certain conventional weapons.

A number of international agreements, including the UAE-Uzbekistan Tourism Cooperation pact, and the UAE-China agreement on judicial cooperation were also ratified.
