DUBAI — Minister of Education Dr Hanif Hassan has appreciated the willingness of the private sector and businessmen to support all sectors, especially the education sector, as a national duty towards the local community.
Dr Hanif was speaking at a ceremony held to honour Firoz Merchant, chairman of Pure Gold Jewellers Company, for his generous support to school activities and projects.
“As a future investment on national human resources, education has become a joint responsibility and a concern for all,” the minister said, calling on all people to contribute to and sponsor education in order to achieve the aspired goals.
He said the international initiative, Dubai Cares, launched by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai to educate over one million poor children across the world, had raised community awareness about the vital importance of donation and the message that all, irrespective of nationalities or faiths, should rally around for major causes.
“Dubai Cares epitomised the UAE’s positive role in various humanitarian works in all corners of the world,” he added.
