DUBAI — Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Executive Council, has issued a decree establishing the Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau to monitor all public and private schools, including nurseries, in the emirate.
The bureau would also publish separate reports about each school in Dubai, both private and public, so as to achieve complete transparency and access to high-quality education. These would help parents decide on the school in which they would enrol their child.
Shaikh Hamdan signed decree No. 38 of year 2007 on Thursday that establishes the bureau within the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) in Dubai. It was announced yesterday.
Shaikh Hamdan also issued decree No. 39 of year 2007, which confirmed the appointment of Jameela Salem Musabih Humaid Al Muhairi, currently Executive Director for Private Schools at KHDA, as Bureau Chief.
The establishment of the bureau is in line with the Government of Dubai’s plan to develop all areas of the educational system so as to enhance the educational outcomes in the emirate.
The bureau’s mandate includes setting the standards of quality for education and its management and help schools keep up to such standards and set performance indicators that help measure, follow up and evaluate these standards.
It would also adopt a system to compile reports that measure performance of the aforementioned standards and indicators and publish separate reports about each school in Dubai, both private and public, so as to achieve complete transparency and access to high-quality education.
It would monitor the schools that do not meet the standards for quality education and set the required procedure for them to elevate their standards.
