Ahmad Farsiar, a UK national, was declared the winner of a six-seater Eclipse 500 jet plane raffled off by Damac as part of the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) promotions draw, which was held in the city last night.

Farsiar was not present during the draw conducted by Walid Abdul Malik Mohammed, head of the Business Compliance Section of the Dubai Economic Department, at Grand Hyatt.

Peter R. Riddoch, Damac’s Chief Executive Officer, told Khaleej Times that the winner of the Eclipse 500 jet plane would in any case have to wait for his gift until August next year.

He explained that the company placed the order for the plane last year but, thanks to a huge global demand for the aircraft, the delivery would come through only by next year. But the winner has the option of claiming Dh5.5 million instead of the plane, said the Damac CEO.

He further said the Civil Aviation laws of the region had been followed and the winner can use the raffle prize as his private aircraft.

Damac witnessed 197 per cent increase in its sales during DSF following which they announced the jet plane promotion, the official said.

Investors in Damac properties in Dubai were given an opportunity to enter a raffle draw and win a jet plane. Around 700 investors participated in the draw.
