Breastfeeding awareness meet draws big response

DUBAI — A large number of women of different nationalities and new Muslim women have attended the breastfeeding awareness programme which was organised on Monday by the Women’s Dawaa Administration of the Dubai Auqaf and Islamic Affairs Department in coordination with the Ladies club of Al Wasl Hospital.

The breastfeeding programme, held as part of the ongoing project “We are always with you”, aimed at providing women with information on the importance of breastfeeding from Islamic and scientific viewpoint. The event, held under slogan “Breastfeeding: The Gold Standard, Safe, Sound, Sustainable”, was supported by Women’s Club of Al Wasl Hospital, Al Quoz Health Clinic, School Health Section of the UAE Ministry of Health, Dubai Police, the Paediatric Section at Al Baraha Hospital and Paris Gallery.

The programme of the event featured competitions, discussion in various languages, a lecture on the importance of breastfeeding. An exhibition was organised on the sidelines of the programme featuring the distribution of pamphlets and publications on breastfeeding in various languages as well as books and magazine highlighting the importance of breastfeeding.
