Mustafa Al Faqi, Egyptian author and political analyst discussed his book the "Years of Lost Opportunity" at the Sharjah International Book Fair. He said that the book is based on integrity and objectivity and that it was meant to be a historical testimony.
The discussion was moderated by Mohammed Saber Arab, Egyptian politician and former Minister of Culture and was attended by political dignitaries and intellectuals.
Al Faqi spoke about the chapters of his book and about his relationship with former Egyptian President, Mohammed Hosny Mubarak. Al Fiki served as Secretary of Information in Mubarak's Administration from 1985 to 1992.
"After the January 25 revolution that led to the end of Mubarak's era, I noticed that there were many doubts surrounding Mubarak's rule and this book is a testimony for this period," said Al Faqi. He said Mubarak was patriotic and that he protected Egyptian lands.
"President Mubarak was stubborn and took a long time to think, that made his reaction slow when it came to certain matters and hence he lost many valuable opportunities that could have been beneficial for Egypt and the Arab region," said Al Faqi.
Dr Al Fiqi , who witnessed seven Egyptian presidents starting from late Egyptian President Jamal Abdel Nasser till the current president Abdel Fatah Al Sisi said that Egypt is now at the crossroads
