According to a Press release, the association had requested Shaikh Sultan in this regard, and Consul-General of India, Venu Rajamony had taken up the matter with the Crown Prince of Sharjah.

This decision, association president Y. A. Rahim said, would provide a lot of relief to expatriate residents in Sharjah and the Northern Emirates as it would avoid difficulties in transporting the bodies to Dubai and back in heavy traffic and other procedural delays.

According to him, at least 10 bodies of Indians were embalmed everyday.
