Polls show Americans remain deeply worried about the economy and inflation
Blunt, known for hits including You’re Beautiful, Goodbye My Lover and High, stopped off in the emirate to play at the Dubai International Jazz Festival as he continues on a 15-month world tour.
The former army captain looked dapper throughout the set in a grey suit and skinny tie, despite joking with journalists earlier in the day about his usually scruffy style.
The packed-out amphitheatre was treated to a selection tunes from the 35-year-old’s two albums — the phenomenally successful Back to Bedlam and 2007’s All the Lost Souls.
However, one of the highlights of his set was the crowd-pleasing cover of Slade classic Coz I Luv You, during which Blunt made a dash into the audience and was predictably mobbed by fans.
The following afternoon, soul singer John Legend took some time out of his soundcheck to chat with the Press.
The Ohio-born performer, who headlined the venue’s Skywards Stage yesterday evening, spoke about his admiration for long-time collaborator and friend Kanye West and of his excitement to be performing in the Middle East for the first time.
In 2009 alone, the multi-talented artist has already performed at both Barack Obama’s inaugural celebration concert and at the Academy Awards.
“It’s been a busy year and it’s been a good year,” said Legend.
“And I think it’s going to keep getting better.”
