Sharjah - The Big Heart Foundation, which provides aid for displaced children around the world, received a cheque for Dh500,000 from the Chairman of the Sharjah Media Centre, Shaikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi. The amount was raised in a charity concert by Lebanese singer Majida Alroumi at Al Majaz Amphitheatre last January.

Shaikh Sultan praised the role played by the foundation in supporting refugee children in need in the region and worldwide, under the directives of Shaikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, UNHCR Eminent Advocate for Refugee Children and Chairperson of the Big Heart Foundation.

“The success of Alroumi’s concert will encourage more charity events, where proceeds can be donated to societies specialising in social, health and educational affairs. This is in line with the vision of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, in enhancing the position Sharjah occupies as a humanitarian beacon and a leader in supporting friendly nations.” -reporters@khaleejtimes.com
