Bid to smuggle in drugs foiled

ABU DHABI — The Medical Control Department at the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with Customs officials at Abu Dhabi International Airport, seized 200 “Cortisone” and “Adrenaline” injections from a man working for a private medical establishment when he tried to smuggle it in.

Dr Eisa Jekkah Al Mansouri, Director of MCD, said some labourers in private medical establishments try to smuggle in different types of medicines, particularly sedatives, or anti-infection injections, which are used in the clinics. Some of the medicines seized were not registered as approved drugs.
