Qassim Baloch, a strong supporter of Pakistan Peoples Party fromAjman, said in a speech, ”It is a sad state of affairs that the killers of our beloved Benazir are still free.”
“This is despite the fact that her PPP is the ruling party in Pakistan,” he said.
Another speaker, Rashid Chughtai of Dubai, said, ”This year, December 27, the date when Benazir sacrificed her life for democracy in Pakistan, coincides with Moharram 10, the date of ultimate sacrifice in the history of Islam.”
“The Peoples Party has been giving sacrifices and will continue to do so,” he said.
A large number of PPP supporters gathered at Benazir’s residence to pay their respects. They recited the Holy Quran followed by prayers for the salvation of her soul.
The poets read verses in her praise highlighting various aspects of her personality.
The event was attended, among others, by Makhdoom Rafique Zaman Talpur from Pakistan, long-time family friend Dr Abdul Ghani Ansari, local PPP leaders Zahoor Hussain Shujra and Mian Munir Hans from Dubai, Mohammad Nawaz and Choudhry Zafar Iqbal from Sharjah and Ghulam Abbas Bhatti from Al Ain.
