Col Mohammed Rashid bin Saree, Director of the Tourism Security Department, department apprehended as many as 215 beggars from July 17 to August 30 in a campaign dubbed ‘Fight Beggary’. Of them, 41 were women. Col Bin Saree said it had been noticed — through beggars who were arrested this year — that some of them were bold and fearless enough to solicit for money. Explaining, he said that some beggars had given themselves the legal right to trespass houses and knock at doors to beg.
Clarifying, some beggars passed through the majlises hosted by some officials in Dubai during the holy month of Ramadan which had had an extremely negative look and made the officials feel shy before their guests.
