Beautification of areas around Souq in Sharjah

SHARJAH - As part of its beautification plan for Sharjah city, Sharjah Municipality has recently made improvements in areas around the Central Souq, according to engineer Rashid Omran Al Owais, Director of Technical Affairs.

The project covered the installation of 16 benches on the Khalid Lagoon side. Besides, a monument featuring seven flags, a base and a flower box has been built.

Mr Al Owais said that a committee was formed to supervise improvement work for abattoirs in Daidh, Khor Fakkan and Kalba areas. The committee comprising Dr Atif Darwish of the engineering section, Dr Badr Aldeen of the Public Health Section and Engineer

Iqbal Akhtar of the drainage section will be in charge of the expansion and maintenance work of the abattoirs and for improving their equipment.

The municipality has also completed construction of its branch in Kalba which consists of two floors housing the sections of licensing, health and engineering.

Eng. Al Owais pointed out that a municipality's branch in Dibba Al Hosn will be inaugurated soon.
