We all live in a world that is constantly changing. The trends of globalisation and digital intelligence will continue to drive these changes, especially how we live as well as how we work - only at a faster pace. According to Prof. Robert Lee, Director, Centre for Professional Legal Education and Research (CEPLER), University of Birmingham, "This means knowing about the world, and the ability to obtain information to generate knowledge and use it strategically is critical to the success of individuals and organisations."
The future is about learning - innovative learning, critical learning and transformative learning on a global scale. This allows fast adaptation and innovation to succeed in the changing environment globally - particularly relevant in Dubai, as a dynamic global hub."
Here are the top five skills that future employers will want, according to Prof. Lee:
Adaptability: The pace of change is so quick that constant re-learning will be required.
Behavioural understanding: As AI comes into the workplace, those who will gain will be those who best understand how humans and machines can interact.
Communication: This will be even more vital with the shift of media to deliver short immediate messages. Those who gain will be those taking time and care to communicate adequately.
Teamwork: Work is frequently fragmented now, and we do a smaller portion of a larger job. Fitting those portions together in a team-working environment will be crucial.
Managing ambiguity: There won't always be easy or straightforward answers, so those who can negotiate uncertainty and contingency will win out.
So, find out your passion, choose your career, and discover the powers of human network with futuristic technology. All the best. - suchitra@khaleejtimes.com
