"The BBC Arabic Television will have a broad appeal - free from commercial, political and religious affiliations or pressures. We are now looking for the key senior staff to help us turn this vision into an exciting reality," says Salah Negm, who has joined the channel as a News Editor.

While maintaining traditional BBC values including accuracy, impartiality and balancing a wide diversity of views, the BBC Arabic Television hopes to create a style which is fast, modern and unique.

Based in the BBC's central London headquarters, the multi-media Arabic service will have about 200 journalists working together to process materials for radio, television and online services.
