In addition to its generous cash donation, Mashreqbank provided operational support to ensure the success of the telethon, which was telecast on the Dubai Business Channel on September 3. The bank committed its entire network of 34 branches and two off-site banking units to help process donations and inquiries from the public, as well as creating a special account for the funds raised.

Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair, CEO of Mashreqbank, said, "Mashreqbank is honoured to have been involved in this praiseworthy project. Being a responsible corporate citizen, we started our Cause of the Month programme in 2003 to assist UAE's worthwhile charity organisations, particularly those which help young people with special needs to acquire the vocational skills to become productive members of society. By supporting this Unicef initiative we can help support the most needy and blameless people in the Gulf at this time, the children of Iraq."

"We thank Mashreqbank for its generous donation and assistance in organising the telethon. The donations raised will go a long way in providing Iraqi children with basic education and ultimately restoring their sense of hope for a brighter future," said Omar Shehade, Marketing Advisor, Unicef Dubai.
