A decision to this effect was taken by the organising committee and released by the Emirates Heritage Club.

The race was put off for the safety of the contenders in the 43 feet category boats, to a date to be fixed and announced later, the organising committee said in a decision, copies of which were distributed to the media.

The decision on postponement of the race was taken after consultations between the organising panel, the boat steersmen, and the meeting of the seamen and the participants. They all agreed that the weather conditions did not favour holding the race as some sailing boats were exposed to damage.

Those involved in the race had studied the weather forecast reports, which predicted the rainfall and gusty winds.

The postponement was the second in 24 hours, after it was put off on Thursday morning due to the weather conditions.
