Novartis Consumer Health organised competitions on ongoing shows on Infinity TV about healthy cooking during Ramadan.

The objective was to increase awareness on the importance of cooking healthy for the whole family, especially during this holy month.

Various high fibre recipes were prepared and people had the chance to participate by sending their own high fibre recipes to the show and avail of a chance to enter into raffle draws and win valuable prizes. Samah Manzalawi, brand manager of Benefiber from Novartis Consumer Health, said fibre supplements could help ensure that the residents get the right amount of fibre daily.

Along with natural fibre supplements, it’s important to eat healthy diets. Healthy eating not only offers sound nutritional choices, but also provides flavour and variety. Some foreign cuisines have gained well-deserved reputation for being healthier than others.

There are different ethnic cuisines that give you different taste sensations while still keeping the fat and calorie content low, but the fibre content high, especially with dishes containing vegetables and legumes on the side. Dr Wafa Ayash, clinical nutritionist from Rashid Hospital had the following to say: “Healthy eating is not impossible. Just be sure to know the terms and ingredients, so you can make smart and informed food choices that are healthy and fun at the same time. Local, fresh, and seasonal products are essential.”
