"Year on year, we have seen an approximately 50 per cent increase in visa applications," said Peter Linford, Consul-General. "Last year we issued around 30,000 visas. This year it will be over 40,000," he added.

Applications by the UAE nationals can be made by visiting the immigration services at the Consulate in Dubai. Alternatively, student, business and tourist visas can also be made online. For most applications over the Internet, details of the current passport (which must be valid for at least six months), a travel itinerary, any previous Australian visas, a postal and home address, and a declaration regarding ones health and character are needed.

Citizens from Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar can also apply online for short stay visitor and business visas.
