Australian board scholarship for Gulf students

DUBAI - A 'Global Peace Scholarship Trust' aiming to provide scholarships to qualified, deserving international students interested in studying in Australia as well as Australians, who wanted the oportunity to study abroad, has been established by IDP Education Australia, Australia's leading international education and development organisation.

IDP's Chief Executive, Lindy Hyam who is in the Gulf on an 11-day visit, said the Gulf region was one part of the world in which the Peace Scholarship Board of Trustees had decided to actively promote the new scholarship scheme.

She said, intially the scholarships would be offered for one semester to students as part of their undergraduate degree programme.

"The Board of the Peace Scholarship Trust is currently seeking financial donations and support from corporations, education institutions, communities and other trust funds to help support the said programme."

"We have already received support from several Australian universities and we are keen to build greater interest and attract further support from organisations and institutions in the Gulf," she said.

She pointed out that they are particularly interested in attracting financial support from the corporate and business sectors as well as from universities in the Gulf region.
