AUST to conduct major diabetes study

AJMAN — Ajman University of Science and Technology (AUST) plans to conduct a comprehensive study on diabetes in the Gulf countries.

Dr Abdul Azeem Ahmed, Director of the Medical Innovative Authority, said, “We have been cooperating with the German-based Institute for Diabetes for a while and have conducted some excellent research in the UAE.”

A large team from the Institute for Diabetes visited Ajman University as part of a programme to inform the UAE doctors of the Kadis Diabetes Programme which was designed by the Karlsburg Institute for Diabetes Research. The programme focuses on finding medical solutions for acute diabetic patients.

In coordination with the Ministry of Health, the study of diabetes will also include other GCC countries.
