Dr Mohammed bin Juma Salim Al Muhairi, Under-Secretary for the Islamic Affairs and Auqaf at the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Auqaf, told Khaleej Times that the committee set up by the ministry would start its work today with a routine inspection tour of housing facilities rented in the holy cities by UAE Haj contractors to ensure availability of all facilities.

He said the committee's work was in line with the directives of Mohammed bin Nakhira Al Dhahiri, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Auqaf, who ordered the setting up of the committee and urged its members to ensure that all the housing facilities meet the standards set by the ministry so that no problem arises between the pilgrims and the Haj contractors. He said after the tour, the committee would present a detailed report to the minister, who being the Chairman of the Haj Higher Committee will take appropriate decisions regarding the Haj contractors failing to meet the ministry's rules and standards.
