Auction of car number plates fetches Dh2.7m

DUBAI — Car plate number D765 has achieved the most valuable returns as it reached Dh105,000 during the 25th auction organised by Traffic General Directorate affiliated to the Dubai Police.

The auction was held on Thursday at the convention hall of the Dubai Traffic Directorate in Al Barsha.

The auction, which included 92 triple, tetra and quintuple distinguished numbers of symbols E and D, achieved a total amount of Dh2.767 million though the total stocks value of these numbers came to Dh1.341 million only. The auction also includes eight groups as their shares vary between Dh3,000 and Dh35,000.

Director of the General Directorate of Dubai Traffic and head of the Auction Committee of the distinguished car-plates Brigadier Mohammed Saif Al Zafeen pointed out that the first group of car plates number included 16 triple numbers bearing D symbol. That group of numbers, he said, achieved Dh1.216 million after its share value came totally to Dh560,000.

The second plate numbers group achieved about Dh318,000 as it included eight quintuple D Symbol numbers, he said, adding that the total shares value of this group amounted Dh180,000 but it achieved Dh249,000.

According to Brig. Al Zafeen, the third group included nine tetra D symbol numbers. The fourth group of numbers, which included nine E symbol numbers, achieved Dh397,000. This group also included other nine-tetra numbers, which bear E symbol. The total shares of such group of numbers amounted Dh180,000.

The fifth group, which included 16 quintuple numbers of D-symbol, achieved Dh231,000 as its stocks value amounted Dh80,000. The sixth group achieved Dh111,000, as it included seven quintuple numbers of E symbol. The total shares value of such group of numbers came before to Dh35,000. Group seven that included six tetra D-symbol plate number achieved Dh99,000, as its total share value was Dh30,000.

Brig. Al Zafeen said that the eighth group included 12 E symbol numbers and it achieved Dh146,000. The total stocks value of this group amounted to Dh36,000, he added.
