Former India fast bowler Atul Wassan has hit out at the Asia Cup organisers for the cramped schedule that saw India play two matches in two days in challenging weather conditions.

"This is terrible. See many of these boys have come from England. And the weather conditions here are challenging. To play two hundred-over games in two days is cruel," Wassan told Khaleej Times.

"But the programme is such that India have to play another game on Friday. It's unthinkable. Imagine, in T20 games, you need two days to recover. And here in a one-day tournament, India are playing on 18th, 19th, 21st, 23rd and 25th. That's cruel!"

Wassan said the organisers could have avoided the Super Four stage in this tournament.

"They could have reduced the number of matches in the tournament. They could have played the semifinals after the group stage instead of having this Super Four format," he said.
