The pilot was flying the Piper Cherokee 28 aircraft, leased from the Dubai-based Emirates Flying School, when it disappeared from the radar screen of the Fujairah Airport's Air Traffic Control and lost radio contact at 5:10pm.

The Air Wing of the Dubai Police launched a search and rescue operation soon after the Fujairah Civil Aviation Department reported the missing aircraft to the Dubai Department of Civil Aviation (DCA), Dubai Police and the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).

The pilot's remains were found in the Madha area of Oman yesterday morning during a second operation by a search and rescue team of the Air Wing of the Dubai Police. The body was recovered and brought to Dubai.

The GCAA reported that an investigation will be carried out in cooperation with the DCA.
