This special zone, during DSF 2004, will be located at the West Hall of the Dubai Airport Expo. The traditional decorations at the entrance and the sections will add a new dimension to this already popular event.
Adulrahman Essa, Member of the Carpet Oasis Committee, said, "The idea to use traditional Islamic designs in the decoration of the gate was part of our endeavour to create the atmosphere of carpet markets of old days. These were a common phenomenon in many countries in the region like Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine."
"The construction work at the Dubai Airport Expo has begun, and we have even started getting consignments of carpets from the many traders who will be setting up shop there", he added. The Carpet Oasis is organised by the Dubai Ports, Customs and Free Zone Authority, and since its inception, enjoys a reputation of presenting and showcasing all that is new each year. It receives thousands of visitors from different parts of the world to see this unique event. This time the new attraction will be 'Al Nader', a storyteller about the tribes well known throughout the region for making and selling exquisite carpets.
The indepth details of the Carpet Oasis, which will feature traders and weavers from many different countries, will be announced at a Press conference in this week.
