Imagine what would happen when a writer and an artist come together to offer something exciting for the readers. This evening, Dubai-based Indian author Shemi and a well-known artist, Ashar, from Dubai will share the stage to announce the most moving book announcement.
This is the first time in the UAE and the Sharjah International Book Fair that a book-based live drawing of this magnitude is being attempted. Readers will get an opportunity to participate in an interactive session with the author on the Malayalam book Nadavazhiyile Nerukal which was launched last year in the fair and became a bestseller. Ashar will transform the written and spoken words into visuals simultaneously with the session.
Giving credit for this unique idea for a book announcement to her husband, Shemi told Khaleej Times that her new book is going to be a suspense. Seventy per cent of the work is complete and she is planning to launch it beginning of the next year.
Shemi's husband Fazlu, a RJ by profession, thinks she is blessed with extraordinary writing and painting skills. He said: Shemi had decided during the last book fair that she would come up with something exciting this time. She a creative person and last year she did something different for her book cover. She asked our younger daughter to dip her feet in colours, she sketched her picture".
Nadavazhiyile Nerukaltalks about an orphaned girl who is empowered through education. The book is inspiring and soon became a bestseller.
According to Fazlu, Shemi signed and sold thousands of copies last year at the book fair and that encouraged her to write another book.
