Arab World’s first centre for translation of academic knowledge

ABU DHABI - A new groundbreaking initiative to transfer academic knowledge and advanced learning methods into the Arab World was launched here today by Dr. Shaikh Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Advisor to the UAE President Supreme Chairman of Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan Humanitarian and Scientific Foundation.

“Our Arabic Sun” will be the first centre in the Arab World to translate academic programmes and paths of the world’s renowned universities the likes of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Yale University into Arabic for the best interest of Arab students and teachers.

Sheikh Sultan signed at his Al Bateen Palace a cooperation agreement in that respect with Professor Hector Fernandez of MIT.

Under the agreement, MIT’s programmes, lectures and films will be translated into Arabic. The Centre will be the first certified think-tank in the Arab World to do so.

Physics and mathematics will be the maiden subjects to be translated into Arabic which will be available on the Centre’s website for download free of charge.
