A senior level delegation from the Arab League, headed by Waleed At Qaraqni and other members including Abd At Hakeem At Rifai, Naser Izzat and Alaa Al Zuhaira, recently visited various sections of the DNRD and familiarise themselves about the functioning of the new systems in streamlining the operations both internally and externally. The members of the delegation also expressed an interest in implementing similar solutions in the Arab League.

DNRD, which handles complex documentation and information processing and archiving on a daily basis, recently installed an Arabic Documents Management system - ArabDox that offers an integrated solution to manage non-structured information found in documents handled by the department.

"DNRD has strong commitment to automate services using leading-edge solutions and reduce traffic by offering most services online. Our high-tech IT solutions have not only accelerated all our processes but also enhanced performance levels, and set the pace for paperless documentation, with substantial cost savings," said Colonel Saeed Mattar bin Bleilah, Director of DNRD.

"These steps are in line with the ultimate goal of moving from manual operations to e-Service environments as part of the objectives of Dubai e-Govemment, and thus accelerating UAE's move towards digital economy," he added.

Col Bin Bleilah said that the Arab League delegation visit "further boosts our image as a customer-centric administration that aims to be at the forefront of the Information Technology revolution in the region."

"The DNRD is constantly upgrading its systems to simplify the complex task of delivering services to our user base which includes individuals and businesses," said Col Bin Bleilah.

He added that quick and secure access to up-to-date information is crucial for the department's daily functioning "and by implementing ArabDox, we now have a system that simplifies access management and controls all document types within the department. At DNRD, we are open to sharing our knowledge expertise with other authorities in the region who would like to enhance their management and service delivery systems using best-of-breed technologies," the director of DNRD said.

The Arab League delegation also met with Lieutenant-Colonel Salah bin Suloom, Assistant Director for Administration and Finance at DNRD, and Lieutenant Colonel Khalid Lootah, Head of the IT Department at DNRD, to gain an insight into the operational aspects of the new systems that have been incorporated to enhance the workflow processes within DNRD.

"Developed by Sakhr, ArabDox has proved to be highly reliable Arabic document management solution. It provides Arabic users in large enterprises with tools for easy management and manipulation of bilingual documents and information. It also offers reliable and easy handling of cross-departmental communication. ArabDox enables users to effectively handle Arabic documents with their special properties. This integrated solution helps to capture information from all sources such as paper, microfilm, fax, e-mail, text and HTML," said Fahad M AI- Sharekh, Business Development Director of Sakhr.
