DUBAI — Dubai Police is hosting an Arab forum for strategic planning and cooperation on combating drugs, which will begin today (Monday), and will last till October 31.
This was announced by Lieutenant-General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, at a Press conference held yesterday at the Dubai Police headquarters.
The forum is being organised in coordination with the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime (UNODC’s) Regional Office for the Middle East and North Africa under the theme “Together for a more secure Arab society”.
Lt.-Gen. Dhahi said the forum would be the first of its kind in the Arab world. The forum, he said, aims at enhancing cooperation between drug control authorities in the Arab countries, exchange of expertise and development of human resources to fight drugs.
Lt.-Gen. Dhahi added that the forum would discuss strategic planning to combat the drug menace, especially as the use of drugs had increased in the Arab world. He said, “the governments of Arab countries should cooperate to curb the drug menace and minimise its use by the youth.”
