Appeal by insurance firms against payment rejected

ABU DHABI — The Federal Supreme Court has upheld the verdict of the Appeal Court ordering an insurance company to pay compensation to a person injured in a road accident.

Jamana Rivo Varan had filed a lawsuit against Fujeirah National Insurance Company, Admaji Insurance company, Mohammed Salim Sadiq and Miguel Bazkhan Noor Abbas requesting the court to make it mandatory on them to pay Dh70,000 as compensation for the material and psychological damage he had incurred as a result of a pile-up.

A cab driven by Miguel Bazkhan Noor Abbas collided with another motor vehicle which veered off the road before it rammed into an iron barrier prior to knocking another cab driven by Mohammed Salim Sadiq.

The complainant Jamana Rivo Varan was travelling in Salim's cab.

As a result he sustained injuries which caused him to develop breathing difficulties, thing. He remained for six days in the hospital.

According to the medical report, the complainant suffered from paralysis in the vocal cord and his voice became hoarse.

The Traffic Misdemeanors Court slapped a fine amounting Dh300 each on Mohammed Salim Sadiq and Miguel Bazkhan.
