"I couldn't believe my ears when Gen. Shaikh Mohammed asked me about my rank and congratulated me. It was one of the happiest moments of my life," said Al Niyadi.

He said Gen. Shaikh Mohammed's decision was quite typical of his nature as he is always concerned about the people and lives up to their expectation. "He also gives people the chance to prove themselves," he said. "This step will encourage all residents to improve themselves and try to achieve more knowledge and education," he said.

Ahmed, who is married to a UAE national and has two kids, said that he started his studies in the year 1994 and continued even while he was working.
