AL AIN — An American was among 23 people who embraced Islam in the month of October in Al Ain.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, an official of the Media Department of Zayed House for Islamic Culture (ZHIC) in Al Ain said the new converts to Islam included 11 Filipinos, seven Ethiopians, three Chinese, and one American and Ugandan each. They all embraced Islam at a ceremony at the ZHIC.
The official said that 287 non-Muslims had embraced Islam between January and October 2007. The new converts have all said they embraced Islam because of its teachings of equality and brotherhood, the official said.
