The pair tangled while battling for third place behind winner Oscar Piastri of McLaren and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc
Maj-Gen Dhahi said the facial features of the two Asian delegates were so close that they, apparently, thought one could use the other's ID card to enter the DICC hall.
He said when the Asian man presented his card to the security official, the latter inspected it and discovered that the photo on the ID did not exactly match the features of the man in question. He politely asked the guest to step aside and double-checked all relevant documents and other evidence of his identity. He quickly found out that the guest had used his colleague's card for some reason.
"This is an incident that shows the state of alertness and efficient performance of the security teams that handled the Annual Meetings. It was really impressive, as, in this particular case, it was extremely difficult to differentiate between the photo on the card and the person who carried it", said Maj Gen Dhahi.
Police officials urged me to keep the identity and the nationality of the guest a secret, he added.
