Tax policy has emerged as a key focus for investors ahead of the Nov. 5 election
Ahmed Al Sharif, deputy head of Al Ain Municipality, said the project named Al Zafaranah (the old name of Al Ain City) enjoyed the patronage of General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
The new multi-purpose souq, set up at a cost of Dh46.5 million, has separate sections for fish and meat, poultry and dates besides traditional sweet, spices and herbs.
There are restaurants and coffee houses as well. The market is equipped with delivery roads, parking spaces and shed areas.
The market has 99 trade shops, 14 textile shops, 35 outlets of perfumes, accessories and traditional clothes, besides the Mubdia'a Traditional Village.
"We have followed the directives of General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to provide Abu Dhabi Business Women Council 20 shops free of charge this year, and at low prices next year to encourage local women to do their own business and contribute to UAE's economy," Al Sharif said.
He clarified that Al Ain Municipality will not shut down the old vegetable and fruit market in the downtown area.
