The UAE is among the Gulf's most significant construction markets, second only to Saudi Arabia, and offers ample opportunities for UAE-based companies. Al Reyami Steel Construction has been at the forefront with several landmark projects. The CEO of the company, Harshavardhan, is an Indian expatriate who has been living in the Middle East for the past four decades. Today, four generations of his family live together with him in Dubai. Academically, a commerce graduate, accounts and finance are his forte, and he shares his professional journey with Khaleej Times.
According to Harshavardhan, Al Reyami Steel Construction was founded in 2004 with a small team of four operating in an area of 200 square metres. Today it has grown to a family of 600 employees working in an area of 80,000 square metres.

Says Harshavardhan, "We are a quality-driven company with customer satisfaction as our primary goal. We've always strived hard to continuously improve and establish standards to achieve difficult goals. We've invested in human capital and technology. We believe in providing the best facilities for our people. This has been the primary reason for us to be reckoned as one of the best fabricators in the region."

Today, he is proud of how the company has evolved over the years, and does not hesitate when asked what makes the business stand out in a competitive market the answer being cutting-edge technology. He explains, "As I mentioned, we continue to evolve ourselves by continuously improving thereby competing with ourselves. Our strategy has evolved around operational effectiveness, innovations, technology and adaptability to have an edge. This strategy has been effective to gain the confidence of our valuable clients repetitively and contribute to the market."

With so many projects operating in the country, the UAE is known worldwide for its construction industry. Al Reyami Steel Construction Company is one of the fastest growing companies not only in the UAE but the region. "We have over these years contributed to the ever-evolving construction industry in the UAE. We've been actively involved in projects in various sectors of construction like infrastructure, industrial, oil and gas, education, etc.

Speaking about landmark projects done by the company, he says, "In the last two decades we have been involved in numerous projects in the GCC. To name a few, Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain, High-Speed Haramain Railway Metro Station in Jeddah, Yacht Club and New Mid Field Terminal Project in Abu Dhabi, Marina Mall in Dubai and many more. We have also been working with Major Global EPC companies in the oil and gas sector."

The company has an eco-friendly approach to its business, implementing it in a primarily desert region. "We are an ISO 14001-certified company. Environment management is embedded in our system. We've created green spaces in our factory and strictly follow Dubai Municipality regulations for the disposal of waste. We are very conscious of energy usage and reduction in wastage," he shares.

Human skill development through training, use of the latest available technology and micro monitoring are some of the methods that make Al Reyami Steel Construction more competitive. Harshavardhan is also grateful to the long-term support of his dedicated team. "Our company is committed to improving the lives of our employees by opening up opportunities for their growth. Our HR policy includes training needs and analysis of each individual and then analysing the same for their development. We also give utmost importance to their health," he stresses, as he speaks about human development.

As the CEO continues to leave his mark and propel his company to a prosperous future, he has bold plans in place, especially as the UAE gears up for Expo 2020. "We are very optimistic about opportunities associated with Expo 2020. We have introduced pre-engineered building to our product range. We are also building a new facility for our equipment and facilities hire division."

The CEO says that the spectrum of projects launched in Dubai in the last few years has made it affordable to buy homes. "At present, the prices are on a downward trend, and we believe the market will correct itself when the demand and supply ratio is balanced. Dubai real estate is very transparent and efficiently regulated," he notes.

Grateful to the UAE
Al Reyami Group salutes the leaders of this country for the wonderful opportunity given to us to be a flourishing business house under their effective guidance and business-friendly policies.
